Beach Luau

This summer I had an intern, Chelsea Allen, working with me. She was super! Always up for whatever I had planned, even some messy paper mache while being bitten by mosquitoes. What a trooper! Chelsea was given the assignment of designing this party for me and my family to execute while on our vacation. She did a great job as you will read in her description.

Aloha!!

Welcome to the Delaware Beach!!

Family Fun started off with a game of Beach Bowling!! Each team of two had handmade sand pins to knock down with their bocce balls. Using the bocce balls was exactly what was needed, because the sand pins were harder to knock over than previously thought!!

Next was the Sand Castle building contest, in which each team had 20 minutes to draw upon their creative juices and come up with the coolest castle, to be decided by the judges, Nonna and Tonya. Here in the front is the winning castle with the ribbon on it!

After working up an appetite during the beach activities, we washed the sand off our feet and went up to the picnic table to enjoy a nice meal. The ambiance was perfectly set with the sun setting and the mini Tiki-Torches lighting up the night.

We even made Kool-Aid ice cubes to put in our fruit drinks to keep with the color scheme of green, yellow, and blue!

Now it was time to enjoy the delicious spread of food, consisting of a variety of kabobs…

Meat and tofu kabobs with yellow and green peppers…

Along with fruit kabobs with pineapple, melon, grapes and blueberries!!

And, of course, no meal is complete without dessert! A plethora of beach themed tasty treats!
There was the Beach Pudding, made with vanilla pudding and crumbled up graham crackers to imitate sand, as well as blue and white icing to look like the ocean. And you cannot forget the green and yellow gummy sharks in the water!!

Along with pudding cake, we had flip flop cookies! This treat was made with vanilla oval shaped cookies with icing and candy rope on top. Underneath the cookies are life preservers made out of chocolate donuts, again using candy rope.

Once everyone was fully satisfied we went back on to the beach to make a bonfire.
Having relatives who live on the beach was a blessing, not only for the great view and room for activities, but also for the many different beach themed dishes and items around the house that we were able to use for decorations.

The Beach Luau Party was a success! It was great fun for the whole family!

Mermaid Water Party

There are a lot of pictures from this beautiful party for you to “sea”. Activities included making an ocean in a bottle, pin the tail on the mermaid, a lively game of “Upset the Ocean”, and diving for mermaid treasure (pearls) which we then made into necklaces.
